Umpires are critical for the success of Central Loudoun Little League and to ensure our youth have an opportunity to learn and play the game of baseball according to the rules. Umpires are required for games from our AA division and up, including the big-field divisions.

CLLL is proud to provide a youth umpire program - an opportunity for youth to participate in the success of our league and receive compensation for their efforts (compensation levels are listed below). Youth umpires must be at least league age 12.

Adult umpires are not compensated, but adult umpires who umpire at least 5 games in the Spring Season are provided a credit for one registration the following spring.

All umpires are provided training from CLLL and District 16 and the necessary equipment to ensure safe and fair environment.

Umpire Registry

All CLLL umpires must register with the Little League Umpire Registry. Be sure to associate your account with Central Loudoun Little League. Once registered with the Umpire Registry, complete the background check process provided by the Umpire Registry. This is how CLLL will track those who have completed a background check. Please note that the background check will cost $5 per umpire.

Online Training

Abuse Awareness

• All umpires must complete the LL Abuse Awareness Class once per calendar year. If this was completed for the Spring season, the requirement is met for the Fall season. All other umpires must complete this training and upload the certificate to Umpire HQ.
• You can upload your certificate to UmpireHQ by going to "Leagues" > "CLLL (Small Field)" > "Logistics" > "LLI Abuse Awareness". Once there you can click "Submit Document" to complete the process.
  

Little League Umpire Training Course

• New umpires must complete the Little League Umpire Training Course found here: https://www.littleleague.org/university/articles/the-umpire-training-course/. This provides a foundation for the basics of umpiring for Little League

In-Person Training

• District 16 will be hosting an in-person training for all umpires on September 6, 2025, 8:45am – 3:30pm at Byrnes Ridge Park.
• All new umpires are required to attend this training.
• Returning umpires are strongly encouraged to attend this training to refresh their skills and understanding.

Gear & Uniform

• CLLL will provide umpires with all protective equipment, baseball cap, and polo shirt.
• Gear will be provided once all required registration and training is complete
• Umpires are responsible for black footwear, gray pants, undershirt, and black belt
